No matter your play style or preference, Pinball FX3 will meet, exceed and redefine your expectations of the genre. All this publication's reviews. And it's a good game, blessed by tables backward compatibility, but after seven years we were expecting more. User Reviews. Write a Review. Like most Pinball FX tables Fantastic Four fully exploits the opportunities afforded by the videogame setting.

It was also home to some of the best video pinball games ever made. Time Cruise is less of a pinball table than a series of conjoined single-screen tables with a common aesthetic. Like the original Zelda game your ball can travel to new screens in all four directions, each with its own pair of flippers at the bottom.

Bonus levels are complex balancing puzzles that resemble Marble Madness more than pinball. The best non-licensed Zen table is currently still an Xbox exclusive, though. Rome nails everything I look for in a pinball table. It has a unique theme, a Roman aesthetic that permeates every aspect of the art design the shooter alley looks like an aqueduct, complete with running water.

Its goals are easily understood but difficult to complete. I mean, that definitely helps, especially on such a subjective list on such a nostalgic topic. A great run on Genie feels more like a genuine accomplishment than with any other table on this list. Dungeon Explorer is one of my favourite RPG titles of any console. You play as one of eight main-characters as you try to rid your land of an alien race that thought it would be a good idea to take over your home.

There are a lot of aliens in the best Turbografx 16 games; maybe the developers were trying to prepare us for what is to come in the year or something! Up to five players could play Dungeon Explorer simultaneously, which was pretty groundbreaking for back in the late 80s. The game is considered by many in the know that includes Brandon and I as being one of the pioneering titles that helped to push the RPG genre to greater heights.

How many of our eagle-eyed readers have noticed a striking resemblance between Bonk and Air Zonk? Air Zonk attempted to give the Turbografx 16 a cool, fresh, and punky look. It features many characters from the Bonk series including King Drool, who must have somehow cryogenically frozen himself to now be alive in the future. Like Samus in the Metroid games, Zonk starts off with limited firepower but can increase his arsenal as he progresses.

Gameplay revolves around shooting and bombing pretty much everything as you power through each stage, accompanied by a cyber cat with cool shades.

Fans of Bonk will love the familiar light-hearted characteristics of this game, and newbies to the series will enjoy the humorous content and easy-play feel. This game is also one of my favourite Castlevania titles because of the non-timed levels and multiple endings to some stages. Richter can wield his trademark whip at the start of the game, moving onto daggers and holy water as he progresses in his quest to save his girlfriend from Dracula.

Hudson Soft and the makers of Bonk teamed up for the next title in our list of the best Turbografx 16 games. The Lords of Thunder sees players controlling a legendary knight named Duran. You can equip armour based on the four elements to help you with your quest, with your choice affecting the type of weapons that you can control. Critics gave this game mixed reviews, but I loved it when I got hold of a Turbografx 16 and made some great memories playing it.

Give it a go and let us know your thoughts on Facebook , Twitter , and Instagram! The Turbografx 16 version of the game differs from the arcade version by including greater emphasis on agility, defense, damage, and spell costs.

This port was also brighter and graphically-superior to the other versions too. The content might not look anywhere near as brutal as some of the fatalities that we might see on Mortal Kombat these days, but this game actually came with a parental guidance message back in the day. Featuring a house with a womb that spawns monsters, a hell mask that resurrects a student that wanders too far, and tonnes of references to western horror classics such as Friday the 13th, Splatterhouse is a must-have for anyone who loves to get frightened out of their wits.

The designers of Devil Crush must have been on a Motley Crue-style binge when they made this game. I loved this game from start to finish. It has a bit of a Prince of Persia feel about it crossed with Ninja elements and Japanese folklore — basically, all of the good stuff. The enemies in this game were incredible, and I hope you agree when I say that the graphics were pretty amazing for the time too. The detail in the caves and the woodland areas in the various stages that you have to fight your way through is pretty astounding when you compare it to the best Sega Genesis games of the time.

Armed with your faithful sword, Righteous Cloud, you must slash every enemy in sight including a boss at the end of each level.
